This past year has brought a lot of personal challenge and transition in my life. I’m still holding the grief of it all while learning who I’m becoming in this next chapter. It’s felt like a long initiation… one that’s been unfolding for years now (the life-long student of being a human, right? 😅), but particularly this year.
Right now, staying calm in the midst of chaos is something I’m intentionally prioritizing as I navigate lots of moving parts and changes.
I love this and it's real: "life-long student of being a human"
And I get you. I often need to remind myself to not lose sight of who I am when things go awfully awry. I then reflect afterwards and wish I had handled it differently. I love the term "emotional regulation," I think it's something I'm striving to better myself in and it'll be a while till I get to a level I feel satisfied about, but it's a pursuit I'll keep at regardless.
Thank you for sharing this—I hope this upcoming year (well, this year now lol) is much better than the last one was for you. And for all of us tbh.
But I'm sending you love. Have a great day ahead :)
So, 2026, I love to reckon, is my pivot year beithn'Allah. How: Im not sure and I will be resolute to the best I can to survive than thrive. How: By helping myself become better and then for my circle of influence, help them as well. I will attempt Super Power 1 - to focus on decimating out of pocket (OOP) healthcare spending for the Underserved in Egypt (within my circle of influence - family, coworkers, underprivileged making less than USD 200 per month in Egypt). InshaaAllah (isA).
Honestly that's a noble goal to have - and it's as selfless as it gets. Let me know if, and how, I can ever help :) I believe you make the world a better place Hassan, just by being in it.
We only spoke briefly, but from all our interactions so far, I believe you have a beautiful heart.
My super power, ha! I set my purpose and reason for being long time ago (90s) to "helping family and friends be more successful - by being a good example". And how arrogant that turned out to be for me - helping others before bettering my self 😂.
Haha I love how you called it out, but I think a lot of us are in the same boat, no? I know I am! I work on myself, but I also know that I try to spend more time doing things for/helping others. But...oftentimes, I think helping others, in a way, helps us - no? Or maybe I'm being a tiny bit philosophical here.
We shouldn't discount helping ourselves though, that's for certain. We need to prioritize it whenever we sort of lose track of time helping others.
That motto came from working with the IT consulting firm I was with in Philadelphia. They aimed to help their clients be more successful, after which era came their revised purpose by accentuating their future, and thus their name (Accenture). It was a rough three years for me before my family recalling to Egypt to resolve family disputes (which I successfully closed 2025 al hamdollelah BTW).

This is a beautifully written post, Mohamed!

The ability to change my mind when new information shows up..
Change my mind - not to be impulsive by slowing down my thought-process and respnse speed and pitch-level.
Thanks for this amazing (among many) post, Fadel ❤️.
Walahy you're too kind Hassan 🙌🏼🤍

Elhamdulelah. I also never knew that the name Accenture came as a result of that, that's my "something new to learn" for the day!
