Push beyond what's possible
Thoughts
*Nothing in this world belongs to us, Marcus Aurelius said that. So what are we afraid of losing? Give everything to everything. Work. Family. Friendships. And love. Give everything your all. You don’t want to look back and think,
“If only…”
Regret is an awful feeling.
Don’t leave any room for it.
Give everything your everything.
–
*We’re destined for more. But we’re settling for the minimums.
We think we only deserve so much.
Human complacency is just sad. Leads to wasted potential.
*Whatever you lost in this world was never meant for you. You’re meant for great things, only if you never stop looking.
How will I find it? You’ll know it when you see it.
Keep searching.
Just don’t close your eyes so you don’t miss it.
–
*You want to be better.
Nay, you need to be better.
Life only moves forward.
It’s okay to stand still, to pause. You need that.
But when you get moving again, move forward.
Be better than yesterday. And don’t leave yesterday’s learnings unchecked.
Fail → learn → get better → do it again.
The learn → get better are the key to your personal evolution.
If you don’t trigger that learning cycle, then your loss has no meaning.
And there’s no worse loss.
Insights
Thomas Jefferson on on making your own luck:
“The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
Someone on being as kind to others as we are to ourselves, on being better:
“We judge other people by their actions, not intentions. And we judge ourselves by our intentions, not actions.”
Terence Fletcher in Whiplash on pushing people to find the 0.1%:
“I was there to push people beyond what’s expected of them. I believe that’s an absolute necessity.”
Reflection of the week
Are you all that you can be?
→ If failure was not option, what would you be doing now?
→ Are you pushing yourself enough? Are you getting to the brink? Do you see the edge? If you can’t, you’re probably going easy on yourself.
Quit playing it safe and go after what you want.
A good read
Since I’m talking about going beyond, I have to recommend one of my favorite books.
Those who know me, know that I spent around 8 years in AIESEC, closing off my experience as its Global President—or President of AIESEC International as it’s called. PAI for short. What made me decide to apply for it? It was this book: Originals by Adam Grant.
If you doubt yourself.
If you think you might be too crazy.
If you think your methods are unorthodox.
If you think others won’t accept you.
Read this book.
Reading it gave me the push I needed to go for something that turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had to-date. I’d recommend giving it a go.
My podcast appearance
I shot this podcast episode a few months back—and it just got released today.
It’s a fun chat with Mohamed Ammar who I got to know through this podcast. The conversation was so fluid we just kept going. It’s 2 hours long…yeah.
But I loved the chat, you can check it out below ↓
How can I help?
I also happen to coach people. I learned from one of the world’s best, Robert Ellis.
Would you like to have a short coaching conversation? Sometimes all it takes is a 90-minute deep conversation to point you in the right direction. Or give you a little nudge. Maybe you just need someone to hear you out. I’m here for you.

Great read! Thanks for sharing
